Explain that the letter "q" in English is always followed by the letter "u" and together they make the /kw/ sound, as in “quiet.” This helps children recognize that "qu" is a special letter pair that always sticks together in English words.

Yoga
Breathing for a Quiet Mind

Start by having your child sit in a cross-legged position with a straight spine, focusing on their breath. Their hands can rest on their belly to feel the breath or on their knees with palms up or down.

Pom Pom or Feather Breathing
Place a pom pom or feather in the palm of their hand. Have them inhale through their nose and exhale through their mouth to blow the object off their hand. They can also try this lying on their belly with the object on the floor in front of them, aiming to blow it away with their exhale. For an added challenge, ask them to pick up the pom poms with their toes and place them in a container. This activity encourages focus and helps quiet the mind.
